Makalu Expedition

Makalu: 8,463m
Makalu was peak XIII of the Indain survey, the survey suggesting, in 1884, that its name was Khamba Lung. This seems to have derived from the local area being called Khamba, through the valley to the north of the peal was called Kama Ling (the valley of the Rive Kama).

The French had negotiated permission for an attempt on Makalu from Tibet as easy as 1934 but the Tibetans had changed their minds before any significant planning was underway.

Two teams, American and New Zealand were attempted to climb Makalu on the pre-monsoon on 1954, but both were retreated due to bad weather and physical troubles of climbing member.

Best season: Late Sept. to Oct.& April to May.

Day 08: Num (1500m) - Sedua (1510m)
Day 09: Sedua - Tashigaon (2070m)
Day 10: Acclimatization day at Tashigaon
Day 11: Tashigaon (2070m) - Khongma (3560m)
Day 12: Khongma (3560m) - Sanopokhari
Day 13: Sanopokhari - Mumbuk (3550m)
Day 14: Mumbuk (3550m) - Yangle Kharka (3600m)
